Chincoteague Island, Virginia is where the pony watching nature cruise and kayak tour depart from. Chincoteague is right next to the beautiful southern half of Assateague Island. Chincoteague is only about 1 hour south of Ocean City, Maryland and about 2 hours north of Virginia Beach. Chincoteague is a scenic town with lodging, restaurants, shops and various attractions. Chincoteague is only 20 minutes south of the MD/VA state line on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and it is only 10 minutes off of US Rt. 13.

CRUISE departs from: Chincoteague Island, Virginia at Curtis Merritt Harbor (2246 Curtis Merritt Harbor Drive) shown on the map below located at the south end of Main Street. Meet us at Boat Slip #71 (you will see this as soon as you enter harbor on left). Arrive approx. 15 min. before your scheduled departure time. (Be sure to call first for reservations.) Look for the sign for "Assateague Explorer," so you know you are at the right place. Free parking & restroom at harbor.

Take Rt.175 East to Chincoteague Island. After going over the last bridge onto Chincoteague, turn right at light on Main Street. Drive 3 mile to the end of South Main Street where you will see a sign for "Curtis Merritt Harbor" Turn left to enter harbor and look for boat slip #69 as soon as you enter harbor on left. Look for the boats with "Assateague Explorer" sign. We recommend arriving approx. 15 min. before your scheduled departure time.

KAYAK TOUR departs from: Chincoteague Island, Virginia at Memorial Park (7470 Memorial Park Drive), the closest dock to Assateague, our guides know where to take you to see herds of wild ponies & wildlife along the island. You will see a sign for Memorial Park. This waterfront park has a nice playground for kids and is a scenic picnic area location. We have a white Ford pickup truck. The kayak guides will meet you at the kayak ramp (it's the left parking lot as you enter the park). Arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled tour time. Free parking and restroom at Memorial Park.
